Everyone has a personal story to tell, and now is the time to capture it and create a permanent legacy ─ written, oral, or visual. As technology catches up with the written word, it's easier than ever to record and memorialize the lives of family, friends and associates. Expert videographer and life story coach Jeff Fromberg has spoken to Los Angeles County genealogical societies and at public libraries, revealing his methods for documenting and preserving a life story, from beginning to end. Jeff's entertaining presentation takes you step by step through how to create a permanent family history or personal memoir, from choosing the right medium to creating a story outline; from collecting relevant data ─ including photos, videos, and interviews ─ to producing the final product.
Jeff's dynamic talk will motivate you to begin keeping a history of friends or family members whose life stories hold meaning for current and future generations. As baby boomers move toward retirement age, there is a growing interest among them to recall their individual histories and pass along the benefit of their knowledge and experience. “Today, more and more of us are interested in memorializing the life histories of family members, our own life stories, and those of friends," says Jeff. "Perhaps it's the availability of leisure time that prior generations lacked, or maybe it's the amazing rapidity of change that leaves us wondering what the day-to-day reality of previous generations was really like." Whatever the reason, these days, setting down stories from our parents, grandparents ─ and even ourselves ─ in written, audio and film formats has captured widespread interest. Audiences come away from Jeff's presentation with the skills they need to conceptualize their story, develop a focus, and take the first steps toward getting this exciting task underway!
